In this short workshop, participants will use the Fab Lab’s mug press and dye-sublimation printer to create custom ceramic mugs. Choose from prepared designs or bring a simple image of your own to personalize your piece. Leave with a finished mug—and a look at how digital printing tools can turn ideas into useful objects.

Visible mending is the art of restoring our clothing with creativity, not only repairing the tear but adding beauty and story to our beloved garments along the way, while also saving them from the landfill. In this two hour workshop and stitch circle, we will learn the basics of visible mending, starting from threading the needle, and leave feeling confident in approaching projects at home. The first half will be instruction and stitch practice, followed by time to work on whatever items you bring you mend, with Maggie’s support. Folks are invited to bring a couple pieces of clothing to repair. Beginners are warmly welcome.

Join us for a hands-on building session where we will create our own unique mobiles using a mix of recycled plastics, wood, and metal components. Participants will explore how things fit together while assembling prefabricated pieces—colorful mosaic-patterned plastic shapes, laser-cut wooden elements, and bent metal armatures—into balanced, hanging sculptures. Participants can also paint and decorate their wooden pieces to complement the vibrant recycled plastic patterns.

This workshop is part of an ongoing dialogue about thoughtfully re-homing marine plastics. We'll discuss how and why we incorporate these materials into functional, beautiful objects while considering their appropriate uses.

In this hands-on workshop, artists and makers will explore how 3D printing can be used as a practical tool for the studio. Participants will design and print forms that can serve as molds, dies, or jigs for ceramics, textiles, and mixed-media work. This beginner-friendly workshop introduces participants to the creative possibilities of laser cutting for craft and design. Over two weeks, you’ll learn how to translate drawings, patterns, and ideas into digital designs ready for cutting, scoring, and engraving. Using the Fab Lab’s laser cutter, we’ll explore how precision tools can support handmade processes—from creating stencils and applique templates to marquetry patterns and paper structures.

Through a blend of live online instruction and in-person studio time, participants will learn simple 2D design workflows, experiment with different materials, and produce a set of custom-cut patterns or templates to take home.
