This workshop will focus on capturing shadows with the cyanotype process on fabric and paper. We will record patterns, memory, and place through cyanotype by utilizing seasonally foraged plants and found objects. Dive into the realm of this photographic printmaking method through hands-on experimentation and investigation! Participants will learn the basics of cyanotype printing on coated materials using different exposure equipment throughout the seasons, as well as tips for achieving varied imagery with additional techniques. This exciting process yields unique, one-of-a-kind results, and provides opportunities to imagine through making while collaborating with elements of nature and everyday objects.

Katama Murray (she/her) is an artist, educator, and business owner from the Blue Hill peninsula in Maine, now living in Deer Isle. Her mixed media work and company, Teach Peace Prints, are inspired by place-based making using natural materials. Murray teaches regional workshops and art classes at The Bay School and the Blue Hill Harbor School. With a passion for multidisciplinary making, she enjoys inspiring others to become more connected to the earth through the power of art and community.
